MickC @ July 9, 2008 # No Comment Yet

Bradley LaShawn Fowler is seeking $60 million from Zondervan, and $10 million from Thomas Nelson Publishing in lawsuits filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
He’s going to have a very, very, very long, uphill climb.
First with the petitions:

Fowler v. Thomas Nelson
Fowler v. Zondervan

Fowler’s suit claims the publishers’ text revisions to [...]

Gonna knock you down

There’s something lacking here.

Oh, I know what it is. Consent!
And I only did this to you because someone (who shall remain nameless) provided a link to this monstrosity.

My dad is a really smart man. Some of the best marriage advice that my dad ever gave me was that I should make sure that my family was situated a good distance from either set of our parents. The reason was that it would make it more difficult for us to have [...]

If Democrats aren’t anti-Christian…

MickC @ December 12, 2005 # One Comment

Delta Mike Charlie says : If Democrats aren’t anti-Christian, then I’m not sure who is…
This deserves a link just to show that the party of universal love is more like the party of the anti-Christ.
Now, I don’t mean that in the sense given by the Left Behind books. I mean that in the sense [...]

MickC @ June 22, 2005 # No Comment Yet

I might start podcasting here, but of importance to me is the new podcast I’ve set up for my church. Partisan politician and erstwhile consultant that I am, you may not realize it, but I am the evangelist for the Downtown church of Christ in Gatesville, Texas.
This past Sunday afternoon, I moved our website [...]

It is difficult to say anything bad about a man known for helping to tear down the Iron Curtain. Religiously, we disagreed. But, I’m not a Catholic so that is to be expected.
But, we will have had two deaths in one week. Terri Schiavo was sentenced to death by her adulterous husband. [...]

The Mustang, Oklahoma school district just lost a bond election. The school district had asked for bonds totaling around $10.4 million (plus another $500,000 in bonds for transportation) and things were looking good for passage. Then it happened.

Put the “Mass” Back in Christmas

MickC @ December 16, 2004 # 2 Comments

Around this time of the year people start pulling out religious slogans. Surely you’ve seen them:

“Happy Birthday, Jesus!”
“Jesus is the reason for the season.”
“Put the ‘Christ’ back in ‘Christmas.’”

Well, this year I propose that we add a new one. Instead of just putting the “Christ” back in Christmas, why not put the ‘mass’ [...]

Act the 28th: In which talk turns to washed-out televaneglists

MickC @ October 21, 2004 # No Comment Yet

Folks, I hate to break it to you, but Pat Robertson does not, in fact, have a direct line from God. The Creator of this universe has better things to do with His time than engage in a discussion about the potential for disaster in Iraq with Pat Robertson. If God were to [...]
