Heinz-Kerry’s Speech

National Politics

Well, after hearing Lisa bemoan watching Teresa Heinz-Kerry’s speech, I tuned in.

I’m not sure where to start.

Do I start with her line that seemed to say “Women of the world unite!” Given what we’ve seen of how Hilary was treated, she could have added “Do your husband’s introductions!”

She mentioned 1) taking a stand, 2) even if no one supports you, and 3) even if no one is watching and I thought she might have been stumping for President Bush.

And then she mentioned that we sent Gallileo to the “edge of the universe”. Since it went to Jupiter, I guess we learned that the Dems think that it’s not so much a small world as it is a small universe.

At the end of her speech she made some references to John Kerry being the one to handle some kind of mystic strings. Those strings, supposedly, stretch from John Kerry to every veteran killed in action and every battlefield upon which they died. Given that he skedaddled from the battlefield just as quickly as he could, I’m not sure that those veterans, who gave all, want him to stir those strings.

My thoughts: she’s either not all that bright or she should get her own speechwriters and stop using John’s. Much of her speech seemed to say that John Kerry believes that we have a lot to learn from France. Other parts were just odd. All in all, it wasn’t a horrible, terrible speech, but it also wasn’t very good. It was flattering to neither John Kerry nor Teresa Heinz-Kerry.

The good news for the Dems is likely that this speech wasn’t televised widely. The bad news is that it was televised at all.
