Wonderful Music
Timothy is participating in the University Interscholastic League’s Music Memory contest.
One of the the pieces that he’ll be listening to is the fifth selection of Aaron Copland’s ballet, Rodeo: “Hoe-Down”. Here is “Hoe-Down” for you listening enjoyment.
Now, for some reason, I went out and looked up the piece in Wikipedia. It mentioned that the major theme of the selection is a well-known folk tune called “Bonaparte’s Retreat”. I hadn’t heard of that piece and sought it out.
There are words, but the music is, in my opinion, just haunting. If you’d like to be as haunted by this beautiful piece as I am, here ya go:
