Tyler v. Hewlett-Packard Company Update

Law Comments (0)

Just an update on Tyler v. Hewlett-Packard Co. This case, you will recall, deals with an allegation that HP failed to advise its customers that the smart chips of certain HP inkjet printer cartridges causes the cartridges to stop working, regardless of print quality or the amount of ink that is left within the cartridge.

Now that we are near the end of the 45 day window for HP to file a responsive pleading, HP appears to finally have filed something.

The docket sheet for Tyler v. Hewlett-Packard Co. shows that HP is being represented by Samuel Liversidge of Gibson Dunn & Crutcher LLP as of yesterday (April 14, 2005). As Mr. Liversidge’s bio shows, this is not his first time out in defense of Hewlett-Packard. He has successfully defended HP in at least three class action suits previously.
