Pope John Paul II

In Memorium, Religion Comments (0)

It is difficult to say anything bad about a man known for helping to tear down the Iron Curtain. Religiously, we disagreed. But, I’m not a Catholic so that is to be expected.

But, we will have had two deaths in one week. Terri Schiavo was sentenced to death by her adulterous husband. John Paul sees Death come to greet him and welcomes it. It is of credit to him that he is facing this event of life not with the trepidation and fear that is common to so many men but with a great deal of dignity and strength.

This morning I was listening to Fox News on my XM Radio and they mentioned that he had wanted to die at the Vatican if at all possible.

He will get his wish. What more can a man hope for than that?

[UPDATE: I'm now hearing that brain and heart activity remain. This isn't a good sign for him if they have to find things out by looking at monitors. Nevertheless I have have updated verb tenses above to reflect the fact that the Pope is still on this side of eternity.]
