To say that I am the exception is to say that almost all liberals engage in extreme behaviour, which is probably not true regardless of where we live.

I'm not the exception, like millions and millions of other liberals (and conservatives), I'm just not news.

If I tried to hit Coulter with a pie I'd be news, if I got caught making a personal feces deposit on a Kerry/Edwards lawn sign (as happened in Ohio) I'd be news - but I don't, so I'm not.

Beware the corporate media, they don't comment or report on the norm - their stock in trade is the bizarre, the unusual, and the exceptions.

In this neck of the woods, yes.

You are the exception to the rule and I really doubt that you would find much of a home amongst American liberals. The Howard Dean branch seems to have taken hold of things.

What's not very surprising is that no one has really batted an eye about the tone that holding signs like "Iraqi Babies are Good Eatin" sets. You've seen me react to it, but who else? And do you really think that Ann Coulter thinks that Iraqi babies are what's for dinner (along with some fava beans and a nice cianti maybe)?

I think that's because no one is really surprised. The liberals here in the states are all about this. So we have Bushitler the Chimperor, Ann Coulter eating Iraqi babies, and apparently conservatives shoot welfare mothers in the name of Jesus.

No one strikes a more moderate tone unless they're working at getting elected. Al Gore provides a good case study in this. He was much more moderate when he was running for office. Now that he no longer has to put up a front to gain votes, he's no longer anywhere near as moderate. I think his frothing anger is going to cause a stroke or an aneurysm. And the Kerry campaign must condone it since they're sending him as a campaign surrogate to Florida.

They're there to protest a speech given by well-known conservative commentator Ann Coulter. The article I linked to surely didn't make it sound like they were there in support of Ms. Coulter.
